أعلنت شركة “فايزر”، اليوم الجمعة، أن الاختبارات السريرية التي أجريت لأول حبة من نوعها أنتجتها لعلاج مرضى فيروس كورونا تظهر أنها عالية الفعالية.
Today, Friday, Pfizer announced that clinical tests conducted for the first pill of its kind that it produced to treat patients with the Corona virus show that it is highly effective.

وقالت الشركة، في بيان، إن الدواء الذي أطلق عليه “باكسلوفيد”، نجح بنسبة 89% في خفض خطر نقل المرضى إلى المستشفيات أو وفاة العديد من البالغين المصابين بكوفيد والأكثر عرضة لخطر الإصابة بالمرض الشديد.
The company said, in a statement, that the drug, called “Paxlovid”, succeeded by 89% in reducing the risk of transferring patients to hospitals or the death of many adults with Covid and who are most at risk of severe illness.

وأكدت الشركة، أنها ستطلب من إدارة الغذاء والدواء والجهات التنظيمية الدولية الموافقة على الحبوب في أقرب وقت ممكن، بعد أن أوصى خبراء مستقلون بوقف دراسة الشركة بناء على قوة نتائجها.
The company confirmed that it will ask the Food and Drug Administration and international regulators to approve the pills as soon as possible, after independent experts recommended stopping the company’s study based on the strength of its results.

وأصدرت شركة فايزر نتائج أولية لدراستها على 775 بالغا. كان لدى المرضى الذين يتناولون دواء الشركة مع مضاد فيروسات آخر انخفاضا بنسبة 89% في معدل دخولهم إلى المستشفى أو الوفاة بعد شهر، مقارنة بالمرضى الذين يتناولون حبوبا وهمية.
And Pfizer Inc released preliminary results for its study of 775 adults. Patients taking the company’s drug in combination with another antiviral had an 89 percent lower rate of hospitalization or death after a month, compared to patients taking a dummy pill.

Less than 1% of patients taking the drug required hospitalization and no one died. In the comparison group, 7% were hospitalized and there were seven deaths.

“Today’s news represents a real game-changer in the global effort to stem the devastation caused by this pandemic,” said Pfizer CEO Albert Borla.
وأضاف أن “هذه البيانات تدل على أن دواءنا المضاد للفيروس الذي يؤخذ عبر الفم، في حال تم إقراره أو ترخيصه من قبل الهيئات الناظمة، سيكون بمقدوره إنقاذ حياة المرضى وخفض شدة إصابات كوفيد ومنع الحاجة لنقل تسع من 10 حالات إلى المستشفيات”.
He added, “These data indicate that our oral anti-viral drug, if approved or licensed by the regulatory authorities, will be able to save patients’ lives, reduce the severity of Covid infections, and prevent the need to transfer nine out of 10 cases to hospitals.”

Primary analysis of the data focused on numbers associated with 1,219 adults in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Pfizer began developing the drug in March 2020.
